Sporting KC Game

My boys love soccer! And yet, we had never attended a Sporting KC game. So for their birthdays last year my mom got our family tickets to the game. There really are no bad seats in the stadium, but the boys loved that they could sit right behind the goal almost at field level! I loved seeing the smiles on their faces!

  • Design Inspiration: I loved the simple grid design in this layout by Jen Chapin from her class Start with a Sketch at Big Picture Classes. It was the perfect inspiration for my soccer game photos.
  • Color Inspiration: I went with traditional Sporting KC colors and then added a few pops of color.

I loved dipping into my embellishment stash to add a diagonal sprinkle of fun across the layout.

I loved using a large title across the center of the layout. It was simple to add a few lines of journaling below the title to complete the layout. Another fun outing documented!

Luv 2 Read

My boys and I love to read. Together, individually, day and night we are readers at heart. I had so much fun combing through my photos tagged “read” to find my favorites. I love layouts that look back at one activity through the years.

With all the paper scraps I have on hand it seemed like the perfect way to use them up!
  • Color Inspiration: I wanted to use bright colors so I decided to go with black and white photos. I simply searched through my paper scraps for colors I liked in a variety of widths.

I used two 4×6 photos to create my photo grid. By pulling my pictures into a photo collage I could print them easily and give the look of a much larger photo block! If you want to use layered templates to create your own photo collages check out this tutorial post!

I was so excited to find the library card and true story label sitting in my embellishment stash. It seemed the perfect combination for this layout. A doily gave a bit of feminine softness to all the angled lines in the layout.

That may be “The End” of this layout, but it is definitely not the end of our love for a good book!

Mama’s Boy

There’s a story behind this photo, but I used it because I love it. And as far as the history…err scrapbooks…remember that’s all this photo will be.

(No need to remember that I was warming him up because he had the chills and then proceeded to be sick as soon as we had finished with our photo shoot. Not many kids could smile when they were coming down with the stomach bug! Haha!)

Inspiration Files2 copy

  • There's a story behind this photo, but I used it because I love it. And as far as the history...err scrapbooks...remember that's all this photo will be. #scrapbooking #layoutDesign Inspiration: Cari Orellana’s class Bold Backgrounds at Big Picture Classes inspired me to try creating a layout with a text background. I was excited to finally use this purple paper!
  • Color Inspiration: Plenty of purple in this layout! With a bit of red and grey to accent. Swoon!

To add a bit more bling to the layout I used a few purple brads. These have been in my stash for forever! So glad to be using them up! The date was already stamped on the paper, but it was close to the date of the photo so I just left it.

I had some letter stickers that were very similar to the font on the paper. So I added a bit to the “today” that was already on the paper. The red letters didn’t cover the purple and white very well so I put them on white paper and trimmed around the words. That way they popped a bit off the page.

This sweet boy loves his Mama. And his Mama adores him!
