Here’s my big secret…I just print the photos and stick them on the pre-made 4×6 cards included in my PL kit. Most printers allow you to choose the photo size in the print queue window. I chose 3×3 for the two photos on 4×6 cards. For the one on the 3×4 card I printed it at 2×2. With a little washi tape for decoration and some journaling I was done. Quick…easy…super cute…love it!

The last two weeks of May held the last day of school and a fun neighborhood party. We were all so ready for summer to begin!

My boys got out of school the Thurs before Memorial Day. We always do donuts in the driveway with the neighborhood kids on the first and last day of school. A tradition my family LOVES! To celebrate my last day of freedom I treated myself to a Starbucks. All in all it was a good day!

Not only did we start summer off with a bang, but my oldest got his cast off! That was a wonderful way to start summer!

I’m still a bit behind on PL, but after being out of town for a week I’m giving myself some grace. I’ll get it done when I can.

I even like to get in on the action occasionally. For this photo I set the timer on my camera and placed it on a chair. Now there is proof that I do chores too.

Lots of dishes going on around here. My house is super messy right now. Perhaps it’s time to get my family working on some chores so I can snap a few more photos!

I began by purchasing two paint drop cloths from the hardware store. They are cheap, and they don’t let paint bleed through. Perfect for this project! Then I used a projector to shine my image on the cloth. If you are artistic you could draw this yourself. I needed something to trace.

Once the image was drawn I went over it with black paint. I just used washable kids craft paint.

I made sure that the outlines were thick and dark. Because I knew a bit of the paint might soak through I put cardboard under each section as I painted and did it outside. The sun also helped it dry.

Prior to the event I cut the design into lots of squares. For our group of around 150 people I needed about 60 squares. To be sure that I was able to put the squares back in the right place I numbered them on the back.

Then came the fun part. I gave each family group a square and some paint. They could decorate their square any way they wanted, but the could not paint over the black lines. Because they hadn’t seen the full image, all they knew was what their square looked like. Everyone was involved, and truly enjoyed painting their small piece of the whole.

Once all the pieces were dry, and after the campers were all in bed, I re-assembled the banner. Using the second drop cloth as a base I used spray adhesive to attach each square in it’s place. This amazingly beautiful colorful masterpiece was the result.

I love how this project not only involved the entire community, but through it’s diversity of design it also represented our individuality. Such a fun project for a large group activity!

• Design Inspiration: I love the Fotostacks by Heidi Swapp. I wanted to create an album with the same design, but since I didn’t have one of Heidi’s I had to create my own.
• Color Inspiration: I simply chose papers that made me happy. Since this is a book about my dreams, I thought it should be in colors I love!

I created the base of the album out of white cardstock. I cut each strip of paper 4×12 in. Then I folded the first strip at the 3 in mark so that one side was 3 in and the other side was 9 in. I continued folding at one inch intervals. When I staped the papers together they created the waterfall effect. Then I added the pattern paper on top of the white cardstock.

Then it was time to embellish. I simply went through the year and documented the highlights. This book is all about me and my dreams, so that is what the stories focus on.

I still need to complete the final page now that I have photos for my Big Picture class. I love the way this little album turned out. And I love that I was able to document these special moments in my life!

We had lots of fun! Chatted, laughed, and of course…scrapbooked! If you missed the live version, you can watch the replay below. But first let me show you the layout I created!

• Design Inspiration: It began with an instagram of a washi feather. I mean, how cute is that?!? And then I followed the photo design of this layout. The rest just flowed from there. Be sure to watch the spreecast below for full details on how the design came together. 
• Color Inspiration: I wanted the layout to feel like the outdoors. So I chose fun pattern papers with blue and green to mimic the sky and the grass. But without being to literal. I didn’t want to use cloud paper and green cardstock. Just a subtle reference to the outdoors.

The story of this layout is all the things my son is afraid of right now. His mantra has become, “I can be brave.” So I knew that had to be the title. I didn’t let the fact that I didn’t have the right letters stop me either. I just hacked some letters to get the A and the E that I needed.

In each of the frames I added something that my son is afraid of. Right now his fears center around birds, dogs, and BUGS! By using stickers, embellies and stamps I was able to fill all the frames with something that represented one of those things. I LOVE how it turned out!

In the journaling I tell not only the story of his fears but the story of how I got the photos. There was a bit of a mean Mommy moment where I scared him in an attempt to get a real photo. Good thing we could both laugh about it after.

But I couldn’t stop there. With so many adorable papers I just had to create another layout. And I want to share that with you today! My youngest son can’t stop talking about space. Near the end of the year they studied space in school and my boy is hooked. He loves sharing random facts with me. And I love hearing them. I just knew I wanted to scrap about this stage in his life.

• Design Inspiration: When I was scrolling through Pinterest I saw this layout and loved the pairing of a 4×6 with a smaller photo. That inspired me to try something similar with my layout.
• Color Inspiration: The minute I saw the constellation paper by We R Memory Keepers I knew I had to tell this fun story about my son. I love it when a product inspires me to scrap!

The embossed cardstock stickers with the Happy Camper set have these adorable stars. What better embellishment to use on a layout about space? To connect the photos with the title block I added the stars and some enamel dots along the diagonal. love how it turned out!

Every night as I’m tucking him in these are the words that come out of my son’s mouth, “Let’s talk about space.” So that HAD to be my title. The constellation guide section of the paper seemed like the perfect place to add my title. I really love the orange and yellow against the blue of the paper.

For the journaling I added a few of his favorite facts about space. To document the moment I snapped a photo of us together while talking about space, and a picture of the star he brought home after the space unit at school.

In my opinion there is just nothing like telling an everyday story about my boys. My absolute favorite thing about scrapbooking!

Nothing tragic, just average everyday being a mom to boys kind of stuff. There were tears, and there was fear, and there was also laughter…it was all part of life. So why shouldn’t I document those moments with Project Life?

During this week’s spread we had our yearly visit to the pediatrician, a visit to the orthopedic clinic, and a visit to the dentist to remove a tooth. That’s a whole lot of medical stuff going on. But I love that I can look back and see these details of our life!

As always I included two weeks of life in one spread. Just looking at all that color makes me smile. I simply love Project Life!

I had so many photos to include that I didn’t leave myself a lot of room for journaling. So I took one journal card and divided it in two. By using some arrow washi tape I was able to clearly indicate that I was telling two different stories. Love that!

Along with all that medical stuff we had some trips to the baseball and soccer fields, some fun playing outside and creating silhouette photos, and my youngest even got a new bed. Life…gotta love it!

I have a couple things I love about the medical info on this page:

• When we visited the pediatrician I recorded my boys stats: height, weight, and percentile. How perfect is that for Project Life? Years from now that slip of paper I wrote the numbers on will be long gone, but the info is recorded forever!
• My boy broke his arm, I don’t love that part, but I love having a photo of the xray. I simply snapped it with my iPhone. Now we can forever see where exactly the break was. And it’s been nice to have it on our phones when people ask about what happened. Turns out, lots of people want to see that xray.
• And my youngest lost his first tooth. Not in the traditional, it was wiggly and fell out way, but with the dentist surgically removing it. And yet, I still want to take a photo of his first lost tooth. No need to pretty it up and skip the real story. Someday he will love remembering the unique way he lost his first tooth. Bloody gauze and all.
