I really like the 6×8 size for my December Daily album and have used it for the last few years. So I wanted to go with that again. I found this adorable Snap Christmas album and knew it would be perfect for this year.
I’ve done a variety of things on my album covers over the years (see all my December Daily posts) and my favorite ones tend to be the simple ones. This year I was feeling stumped so I looked to Pinterest for inspiration.
I adored the look of a wreath created by the wooden snowflakes on this ablum by Cindy Backstrom. I didn’t have the right supplies to recreate that design but I did have some red snowflake rub-ons that had been in my stash for YEARS! Seemed like the perfect way to use them up!
Before we talk snowflakes, let’s talk numbers. Oh, the numbers. Because I was using gold numbers througout the album I really wanted gold numbers on the cover. At first I considered gold thickers but then I found these large wooden numbers in my stash that I got in a kit from Studio Calico. I sprayed them gold with some Heidi Swapp color shine and promptly fell in love. It was really hard waiting for these numbers to dry!
I sorted my snowflake rub ons by size to help arrange my circle. (My snowflakes are old and no longer in stock, but you can find a different set here) I didn’t have enough to go onto the candy cane fabric, but that was fine by me. I just wanted the illusion of a circle. Once I had everything placed I peeled off the backing and started applying the snowflakes one by one.
To add a bit more glitter I dug through my stash of rhinestones and enamel dots and to add to each snowflake. I tried to use colors that I have throughout my album for a bit of continuity. For now I just stuck them on, but if I find they are falling off I will adhere them with Glossy Accents (I love that stuff! It sticks so well!)
So there you have it! My album cover for 2016. And I have to say, it may be my favorite yet!
