Scrapbooking Snow: Hello! No School!

I’ve got to say, scrapbooking snow is not my favorite thing to do. After awhile the pictures all start to look the same. So I’m always looking for new ideas and new stories to tell!

Recently my boys ended up with a full week of snow days which meant 9 days home together. I decided to tell that story and share several of our snow fun memories. Take a look at how I included 9 photos on this snow layout!

  • Design Inspiration: This layout is the result of a challenge in The Art + Science of Scrapbooking, a class by Jennifer Wilson and Stacy Julian. The challenge was to use a particular sketch. I followed the sketch to a T and created this fun layout!
  • Color Inspiration: I was inspired by one piece of paper for this layout (see product links below). I based all my colors off that one sheet of pattern paper. In fact I used both sides of the paper by cutting a 4 inch strip off the side, flipping it over, and adhering the whole thing to a piece of old cardstock. You can’t see the cardstock at all and I got to use both sides of a paper I love!

Is it wrong to say that the day they headed back to school I couldn’t stop smiling? I just knew that this photo would be the focal point of the page. And I had a bit of fun with the saying at the bottom. I also chose an arrow sticker and pointed to the number 9 on the washi tape to indicate how many days we were home together.

One tip I got from Jennifer Wilson was to use up the periods on your letter sets to sort of pin your photos to the page. How cute is that?!!

I got to the point where I dreaded the phone ringing and hearing the automated message letting me know that there was no school. So I thought it would be fun to do a play on that for the title of the page. I also included a couple of black and white, hot chocolate photos to round off the page.

I just love how it turned out!! What is your favorite way to scrapbook snow layouts?

Love the photo of the kids going to school. As a teacher, you know you’ve had too many snow days when you are hoping that DO NOT cancel school again, lol.

My opinions on snow days have definitely changed from my days as a teacher. 🙂

Great ideas, Monica! Especially like the one about “pinning” your photos. 🙂
