Over the past several years I have participated in Ali Edward’s One Little Word project. This year I’m not taking her class but have still chosen a word. In 2014 I’m focusing on BALANCE. To document the beginning of my journey I decided to create a scrapbook layout. (You can see more of my One Little Word journey here).
- Design Inspiration: I wanted to create a variety of layers mimicking the background paper. To accentuate the idea of balance I wanted to be sure that some of the papers were twisted and not layered straight on.
- Color Inspiration: I began the entire layout with this color palette. In fact I built my page before I even decided on a story or photo. I don’t normally work this way, but because of a class challenge decided to give it a go. Still won’t be my go to method but it was a fun way to add a bit of creative variety to my process.
Not long ago I was helping my mom go through boxes in her basement. I came across several small baby food jars with sequins. I was ecstatic! Couldn’t wait to use them on a layout…and then I promptly misplaced the jars when I got home. 3 months later I finally found them. You know I had to add some sparkly sequins to my very next layout! Love how it turned out!
But the bling didn’t end there. I’ve had these large green gems for years. This seemed like the perfect layout to throw them on. Love me some sparkles!
I kept the journaling very simple documenting my new found love of yoga. This layout just feels very zen to me. Love it when things come together like that!
