How to Include a Text in Your Project Life

I love including technology in my Project Life. Today I want to remind you how fun and easy it is to add texts to your Project Life spreads!

Including a text in your Project Life is super simple…take a screen shot of your phone. That’s it! But if you are like me, you have no idea how to actually DO that. So here’s how!

I am an iPhone user (don’t worry Android friends I’ve got you covered too), so here is how to take a screen shot with your iPhone.

  • Pull up the text, or image, you want to capture
  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home Button at the same time
  • You will hear the camera click and the photo will be stored in your photo stream

If you are using an Android 4.0 or later here are the steps you will use.

  • Pull up the text, or image, you want to capture
  • Press and hold the Volume Down and Home Button at the same time
  • You will see an animation on the screen to let you know the photo is being saved to your gallery
  • Not being an Android user I have not tried these steps myself. Here is where you can find more info.

Now all you have to do is print out the photo at 3×4 and stick it in your album. DONE! Easy right?

One more thing to remember when you are capturing a text is to take note of what you see on the screen. I always try to scroll the screen to only show the conversation I want to capture. Rather than another random comment that is not related. Be thoughtful about what you see in the screen capture.

Don’t want to mess with taking a screen shot? Hold your phone in your hand and snap a photo with your regular camera. That works too!

Since we are still in full summer mode around here, I am including mostly photos and very little journaling. I love keeping my Project Life simple.

The last two weeks of June included my trip to San Antonio. You may have seen the layout I made about the trip. I’m also planning to create an entire mini album. So for Project Life I just included a collage of a few of my favorite shots.

I love the one card in this spread that says “This is Life.” Just a perfect accent to this collection of photos.

And the text adds just the right bit of everyday life to my Project Life spread. Love everything about it!

Thanks so much Julie! I was so shocked to even see a double rainbow, let alone capture it! It definitely had to go in my PL. 🙂

LOVE the double rainbow! What an awesome capture!
My android doesn’t do screen shots :o/ I might have to try taking pictures of it though. I would love to include some of my texts.

I LOVE the idea of including a text on your layout! What a great way to quote someone else, capture a bit of current lingo, and help get a different perspective for the journaling! Fantastic use of technology!
