Around here school starts this week (Wednesday in fact) so I thought I’d show you the rest of our school of life layouts. In case you aren’t familiar with School of Life it’s a concept designed by Stacy Julian. I use digital templates from Scrapaholics for our school of life albums. Makes things pretty quick and easy.
To create this layout I begin by scrolling through my digital photo files. I have them starred and sorted by each season for each year. So I just went through fall 2011 to spring 2012 looking for photos that would depict major events in my son’s life at home.
I always include photos of the sports my son is involved in as well as any other activities he participates in, such as piano.
I also typically include a birthday photo along with any other fun things my boy likes to do.
And you know that what you do for one child, you also must do for the other. 🙂 It was easier to document my younger son’s life at home because he spent it home with me. This is the first year I’ve documented school of life for him. It was his final year of pre-school…which means my baby is starting Kindergarten in just a few days…tear…
I know I will be so happy to have these moments documented when I look back on our pre-school time home together. I didn’t get that with my older son, and I feel so lucky I got the chance to spend at least a little time home with my boys!
There is one event where I used the same photo on both of my boys’ Life at Home layouts. Daddy being deployed overseas as a civilian contractor and then returning home was a big deal for us all. And this photo speaks volumes about that moment. So I used the same photo and journaling on both pages. I also talked about our family vacation on both pages, but chose different photos and different stories to highlight for each child. We are a family and things at home often happen together. No reason to re-invent the wheel! It’s ok to document the same thing for each child! 🙂
I just love these School of Life pages! Come back later this week to see the layouts documenting Life at School!
