Project Life {Week 10}

Some weeks I just want to get Projet Life done, and other weeks I kinda want to play. This week I had fun playing with my Project Life spread.

Some of my favorite elements this week had to do with my son’s birthday. I included an entire insert dedicated to his party.

True to form I created several photo collages but I also used a few full size photos. And I did more handwritten journaling and no digi journaling this week.

I just love these checkmark stamps. It’s from a stamp set I absolutely love by Studio Calico called Epic, but is not currently in stock. I went ahead and linked it below in case they ever restock it.

Also from that set is this adorable dotted frame. Perfect for including an instagram photo!

One of my favorite pieces this week is this 4×6 insert. I used a cut file from Kerri Bradford (linked below) to create theย chevronย paper. I added a piece of Ali Edwards word art (also linked below) and finished it off with a grid block and stamp. To attach the insert I folded stuck on a piece of washi tape to the top edge. Then I folded it over and stuck it to the back. About an eighth of an inch was sticking above the top of the protector. To stick it to the spread I used a strip of Glossy Accents. It’s holding really well so far, but it was a bit tricky to allow it to dry without getting stuck in the wrong places. Update: eventually the pocket fell off, so I stitched across it with my sewing machine instead.

On the back side I added another grid block and journaled a bit about the photos. These pictures got special treatment because they are all photos from my son’s actual birthday. We had such a great day and I wanted to honor that separately from the party pics.

I knew I wanted an insert that was smaller than 12×12. As I was digging through my photo sleeves I found this interesting 8.5×11 one. I decided to play with it and have fun.

My boy wanted a Jake and the Neverland Pirate party. I used paper bags for the invites and for the party treasure maps so I decided to use paper bags as a base for the insert as well. (wanna see the invites?) Since I had some left over red cloth (from the headbands) I used it to create a tie on the page. To finish it off I added some stickers, some stamping and my journaling.

I love the look of a larger piece cut into smaller sections. And my son’s party map was a perfect element for that in the insert.

More stamping on this side of the page as well. I added some classic Jake and the Neverland Pirate quotes as well as the names of the main characters. Then I included a photo of all our party guests. I gotta say, I LOVE this insert! ๐Ÿ™‚

But we weren’t all about the birthday party this week. There was all kinds of things going on!

Not only did we party like pirates on Saturday we also had two soccer games. In fact it was my youngest’s first soccer game ever. I adapted a journaling block to look like a soccer ball.

But my favorite story has to do with my Dad. I wrote more about it here. But I just had to include it in my Project Life this week.

Still loving this project! How about you? Are you doing Project Life? If you’d like more Project Life inspiration check out The Mom Creative!

I am amazed at all the little details. You are right, there is nothing like a party to add a lot to your Project Life. I think my absolute favorite part of your pages this week is the map from the party. What a great detail and so fun to have kept! Love!

Seriously, your pages this week, as always, are just beautiful!

Love your layouts! Birthday celebrations are always fun weeks to document. I’m a fan of collages, too. I like how yours are arranged. I might have to try some collages like yours. I love how you can include more photos with collages. Thanks for the great inspiration!

    Fantastic work again!

May I ask how you like your Epson printer? I may be in the market for a new photo printer yet again and I’m considering the model you have or one similar. Do you print all your photos at home?

    • Posted March 13, 2012 at 1:54 pm | Permalink

Thanks Nat! I really like my Epson printer and yes I print all my photos at home. I think it’s an excellent photo printer and the scanner works really well too. When I shopped around I was looking for something that would print colors more true to what the photos look like digitally (my previous printer printed pretty dark). I’ve been very happy with the Epson. I just replaced a few ink cartridges last week for the first time since December. So that means I did about half of December Daily, a weekend long crop in Jan, and LOAD in Feb on one set of ink cartridges. I think that’s pretty good, cause that was a fair amount of printing. Hope that helps you in your search! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!

Thank you! I’m weary about buying a new one/brand because I can’t really see the quality of pictures in my hands before making a selection. I print all of my pictures at home too and am a stickler for quality.
